Common Queries About Plant Care

Your watering schedule depends on the type of plant and the environment it is growing in. Generally, you should water your plant only when the top half of the soil is dry and the pot feels light. Keep in mind that overwatering is more harmful than underwatering.

Plants we keep indoors are usually shade-loving plants. They thrive in bright, indirect sunlight, and will get scorched in direct sunlight. All plants need some form of light to survive. Keep your plants near a bright window facing east (where the sun rises) or west (where the sun sets.

Choosing the right soil is key for your plants’ health. Most plants will benefit from nutrient-rich, well-draining soil, while others like cacti, orchids, and anthuriums need special mixes which are more porous. Always read labels and choose accordingly. Most indoor plants will not tolerate clayey soils that retain too much water.

A happy plant typically has healthy, green (or variegated) leaves and shows signs of growth. If the leaves are droopy, curled inwards, or yellowing, it’s a sign that your plant is unhappy and needs your help. Check for signs of overwatering or under watering. Also check that your plant is receiving the right amount of light, and keep an eye out for sap-sucking insect pests.

Yes, tap water is generally fine for most plants. However, some plants may be sensitive to chlorine or fluoride in treated tap. If you notice issues, such as brown edges of tips, try using rainwater or distilled water.
